Oskaloosa, Iowa (May 13th, 2015) – It was Beautiful early in the day but that turned in to cloudy and chilly night on Wednesday at the Southern Iowa Speedway on Kelderman Hobby Shack Night. Kids participated in foot races during intermission meanwhile 86 drivers signed in to tame the monster half mile including 18 SportMods for their special event.

Bill Whalen jumped out to the lead early in the IMCA Sport Compacts feature. Bill’s brother John Whalen grabbed the second as well and they finished one and two respectively. Matt Girdley finished third, Curt Myers was fourth and Trent Orwig, driving his own car for the 1st time this season came home in fifth.

After the Initial start in the Budweiser IMCA Stock Cars feature was called back twice it was Derrick Agee grabbing the lead. Agee and the field saw the caution come just after lap one was completed when Eric Knapp and Daniel Gordon got together in turn four. On the restart, Jerry Pilcher got sideways collecting Brad Pinkerton, Terry Clayton and Mike Brown. Agee still was in control however that was short lived as on lap three, Agee took his car to the pits that gave the lead over to Daniel Hilsabeck. Hilsabeck went on to take the win over Cayden Carter, Todd Reitzler, Nathan Wood and Mike Hughes.

Jamie Songer used his outside starting spot to lead the field after the drop of green flag in the Pepsi Cola IMCA Hobby Stock main event. Songer and the field saw their only race caution come out after completion of lap one when Doug Gorden spun in turn three collecting Danny Thrasher. Songer will then have to contend with a racing veteran Bill Bonnett the rest of the way but it was Songer taking the win and doing a victory dance in victory lane. Bill Bonnett finished second and would have his carburetor claimed by Brad Stephens. Travis Bunnell, Dustin Griffiths and Nick Ulin finished third through fifth.

Kyle Brown lead from start to finish in the 18 lap Musco Lighting Feature event to take the win. Tyler Groenendyk grabbed second away from Scott Dickey on lap five. Cayden Carter took third on lap six and Andrew Schroeder took fourth on lap nine. David Brown came home in the fifth spot.

Final feature of the night was the 20 lap KBOE Radio IMCA Northern SportMods special feature event and it was Curtis VanDerWal taking the lead early from his outside row two starting position. VanDerWal pulled away only to see the caution come out on lap five for Jason McDaniel getting into the turn two fence. VanDerWal did not let that bother him or the caution on lap nine for Dakota Simmons in turn four. VanDerWal went on to take his third win of the season at SIS. Brayton Carter finished second, Brett Lowry was third, Cory Van Zante was fourth and Jerry Hinton was fifth.

Midwest One Bank is the sponsor next Wednesday Night at the Southern Iowa Speedway with all five weekly classes in competition. Hot Laps at 7pm and Racing at 7:30pm.
