Vermicomposting (Composting by Worms) Speaker

Iowa State University Extension

Iowa State University Extension

The Mahaska County Master Gardeners are hosting a Vermicomposting (composting by worms) speaker on Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at 7 pm. It will be held at the Mahaska County Extension Office.

Traci Dow-Wyatt, co-owner of Central Iowa Organic Fertilizer, a small family owned and operated business in Indianola will talk about their operation, which produces OMRI Listed worm castings. They care for about 750,000 worms and produce a cubic yard (about a ton) of castings every three days. Worm castings feed plants, stimulate growth and improve soil while still remaining odor-free and safe for children and pets. They are an organic alternative to synthetic NPK fertilizers. Their product is available direct or at many central Iowa garden suppliers. There is no charge for this event.
