As part of the celebration of Computer Science Week, December 8–14, 2014 you are invited to join millions of people around the globe participating in the Hour of Code. William Penn University will be hosting the Hour of Code event on Saturday, December 13 at the Musco Technology Center on its Oskaloosa campus. So far 60,530,792 people nationwide have already tried an Hour of Code! This year, you can join Anna and Elsa from “Frozen” in creating a winter wonderland. Other options include choosing LightBot or another engaging tutorial to experience different ways of giving instructions to a computer.

There is no background knowledge necessary. Two sessions will be held at the Musco Technology Center on the northwest corner of the William Penn campus (319 K Avenue West). Choose the session that best fits your schedule: 9:15–10:30 am or 10:45–noon. William Penn Computer Club members will be available to assist you.

There is no fee and reservations are not required. However, for planning purposes, please contact Professor Judy Williams at 641-673-1053 or williamsj@wmpenn.edu and leave a message with your name, how many are coming in your group and preferred session (9:15 am or 10:45 am).

Children under the age of 8 need to be accompanied by someone 14 years of age or older. To hear the audio effects, please bring ear buds or earphones that can be plugged into the computers in the lab. There are no other requirements other than to have the ability to read simple instructions and operate a mouse and keyboard.

This is the second year William Penn University has hosted the Hour of Code event.
