Oskaloosa, Iowa – The Mahaska Wellness Coalition plans to celebrate the Live Healthy Iowa 10 Week Challenge on Friday April 5th at noon at the bandstand on the Oskaloosa Square. Participants in the 10 Week Challenge and the general public are invited to attend the celebratory event.

Oskaloosa Mayor, Dave Krutzfeld, and Oskaloosa Elementary students will be engaging the community in the Interlude Dance, which was made famous by the UNI Panthers. The Live Healthy Iowa 10 Week Challenge is an initiative designed to help Iowans participate in healthy activities such as walking and eating healthier. Mahaska County ranked the 15th healthiest county in Iowa in 2013, which is up from Mahaska’s ranking of 79th In 2012. Great job from all participants! Mahaska has 635 adults participating and Oskaloosa school district added 974 youth to the count.

The April 5th celebration will take place at the downtown square at noon and several of those youth participants will lead those present in the Interlude Dance after the mayor speaks. Come out and join in the dance or just watch our community youth in action! Way to go Mahaska! For more information about the celebration, please contact the Oskaloosa Chamber at 641-672-2591.
