Ice Golf Tournament
at the Russell Wildlife Area
The ice is looking good for the Ice Golf Tournament that will be held at the ponds of the Russell Wildlife Area. This nine-hole golf tournament is being hosted by the Friends of Mahaska County Conservation to help raise money for the new environmental learning center that will be built just east of Oskaloosa in Caldwell Park. No experience is needed to take part in this extremely fun game of golf! Each participant will use a golf club to hit a ball across the icy pond into a hole and record how many times it takes you to his the ball into the hole. Sound easy? The staff at the Mahaska County Conservation Board have discovered it to be one of the most fun things to do on ice because it will surprise you how many times you will have to hit the ball! Golf clubs and balls are provided, but feel free to bring your own clubs. Homemade chili and catfish will be served in the conservation center at 12:00 pm for all participants and anyone wanting to come and watch. Tee time is at 1:00 pm. Prizes will be awarded to the top team scores.
Reservations are needed to play the game. The cost is $10 per person and signing up as a two person team is preferred, but individuals can be paired up the day of the event. Call the Mahaska County Conservation Board at (641)673-9327 by 4:30 pm on Friday to sign up.
