Des Moines–The Statesmen cagers rolled to yet another win Wednesday by dropping AIB 85-67 in Midwest Collegiate Conference action.

#4 William Penn (18-1, 2-0 MCC) went wire-to-wire (one tie at 2-2) to stay perfect in league play.

Pulling out to a 44-26 lead at intermission, the Statesmen advantage grew to as much as 38 on four occasions in the second half before the navy and gold coasted the rest of the way.

The navy and gold outshot the winless Eagles (0-18, 0-3 MCC) by a tally of 44.3%-42.1% and were also better in rebounding (42-35) and turnovers (16-20).

Kevin Fay (Jr., Hennepin, Ill., Education) connected on four three-pointers and was perfect at the line (5-of-5) to lead all players with 21 points.

Brandon Beasley (Sr., Indianapolis, Ind., Physical Education) was next with 16 points, while Lamonte Jenkins (Fr., Lake Charles, La., Physical Education) managed 11 points off the bench.

Arman Rasul (Sr., Chicago, Ill., Sociology) hit double figures as well with ten points and Keith Steffeck (Sr., Marion, Iowa, Physical Education) and Taylor Stoutner (Sr., Keota, Iowa, Physical Education) both added eight points. Rasul was Wednesday’s best rebounder with nine caroms, while Steffeck produced three blocks.

Blake Walker (Jr., Rose Garden, Ga., Physical Education) dished out five assists and tied Beasley with three steals.

“I am thrilled with tonight’s win, but very disappointed with our final six minutes of play,” Head Coach John Henry said. “They outscored us 20-2 in that span and that is not acceptable, even if the game is out of reach.”
