Forest City–The William Penn wrestling team was not at full strength Tuesday and struggled due to that with a 31-9 dual meet loss to Waldorf.

The Statesmen (0-2) claimed only three wins against the Warriors (1-4) and fell behind quickly by forfeiting at 125 pounds.

Joao Vicente (Fr., East Providence, R.I., Secondary Education) got his team on the board with a 7-5 decision over Raymond McQueen at 133 pounds, but then the home team reeled off three more wins to go up 18-3 at the midway point.

Christian Padilla (So., Tampa, Fla., Secondary Education) helped the navy and blue cause with the only shutout of the evening, dropping Cameron Childs 5-0 at 165 pounds to narrow the deficit to 18-6.

Unfortunately losses at 174 and 184 pounds put the meet out of reach.

Kyle Soderblom (So., Newton, Iowa, Biology) picked up the final William Penn victory with a 10-3 decision against Marshall Williams at 197 pounds. The Statesmen dropped the final match of the night.

Next: William Penn travels to Pella Saturday to compete in the Central Invitational.
