Rasul Receives First MCC Weekly Award
Oskaloosa– Arman Rasul (Sr., Chicago, Ill., Sociology) was a big reason the Statesmen basketball team knocked off two strong opponents last week, and for his efforts he was named Midwest Collegiate Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week Monday.
Rasul collected his first career honor by nearly posting a double-double in wins over #30 Hastings (Neb.) and #10 Northwestern. The victories pushed #7 William Penn to 16-1 entering the 2013 calendar year.
The senior averaged 18.0 points, 9.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists, 1.0 blocks, and 1.0 steals at the Pizza Ranch Classic. His week was highlighted with a 20-point, 13-rebound showing against Hastings. For the week, Rasul shot 77.3% from the floor (17-of-22) and made two of his three free throws.
Rasul is averaging 11.6 points and 6.8 rebounds this season in addition to 27 assists, 26 steals, and ten blocks. He is shooting 59.7% overall and owns a 61.1% clip from the charity stripe.
The award is the fifth of the year for the cager program.
