Rangel Named All-American by NCBCA

Oskaloosa–Sean Rangel (Jr., Omaha, Neb., Bellevue East HS) was one of the most consistent high rollers in the nation this year and he was rewarded for that success with a Second-Team All-America laurel.

The National Collegiate Bowling Coaches Association named its All-America team and Rangel was placed on the second team for the first time in his career. Five players were named to each of the first, second, and third teams.

Marshall Kent of Robert Morris (Ill.) was named both the Most Valuable Player and Rookie of the Year, while Bobby Brown of Morehead State (Ky.) received the Kerm Helmer Coach of the Year honor.

The junior was also an honorable mention for Player of the Year voting by the Bowling Writers Association of America. Kent also won that accolade.

The awards are the second and third for Rangel this year, joining his First-Team All-America selection by the NAIA’s coaches.

In 78 games this year, Rangel posted a 212.3 average, including a season-high game of 269. The junior placed in the top ten four times, including two wins at the ISYL Leatherneck Classic and the Clarke Conference Invitational. He finished the season ranked sixth in the nation according to collegebowling.com
