Accident injures 2 on Highway 23
Police and rescue were called to the scene of an accident on Highway 23, 1/4 mile south of 3rd Avenue East in Oskaloosa at nearly 4 yesterday afternoon.
A semi-truck driven by Kenneth Armstrong of Alberta, Canada was heading north on Highway 23 when it’s rear trailer tires dropped off the edge of the road and then crossed the center line striking a south bound car. The driver of the car driven by Jerry Mitchell. Mitchell had to be cut from the damaged Dodge Stratus. When the trailer of the semi went off the road, it also struck a pedestrian.
Shawn Roberts of University Park was walking north when struck forcing him into the ditch landing him underneath the trailer when it came to a rest in the west ditch. Both Mr. Mitchell and Roberts were transported to Mahaska Health Partnership.
The accident remains under investigation at this time.
