Patrick McCormick, 75, of Marshalltown and formerly of Oskaloosa, died Monday, December 19, 2022, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Des Moines. He was born May 28, 1949, in Oskaloosa, Iowa, the son of Claude Parker and Charlotte Marie Dietch McCormick.

Pat graduated from Oskaloosa High School with the class of 1967.

Following high school, he served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.

Following his discharge from the Army, Pat returned to Oskaloosa and worked at Clow Valve in Oskaloosa. After a few years at Clow he changed career paths and joined the Pella Fire Department. He was forced to retire early from firefighting due to an automobile accident.

On May 26, 1989, Pat was united in marriage to Marsha Cole. Marsha died on May 23, 2002.

Pat loved to cook, in 2010 he completed the Culinary Arts Program at Indian Hills Community College.

Pat was a life member of the Oskaloosa V.F.W. and the Oskaloosa American Legion. He also enjoyed playing with his Yorkie Baby Jo.

His family includes his daughter, Amy Greer of Monmouth, Illinois; two grandchildren, Jerzi Johnson and Dominic (& Alyssa) Greer; two great grandchildren, Saige Greer and Quinn Greer.

Patrick was preceded in death by his wife, Marsha McCormick; his parents; two brothers, Mike McCormick and Larry McCormick; two sisters, Pam Brown and Claudia Camarac.

As was Pat’s wish his body has been cremated.
A graveside memorial service will be held at a later date in the Jackson Cemetery near Rose Hill.
