OSKALOOSA, IA — An audience favorite, Artrageous kicks off the new professional season at the George Daily Auditorium on Wednesday, September 12 at 7 p.m.!

Bubble wrap, black lights, live music, dance, art, and paint splattered everywhere – Artrageous is off the hook! Imagine an artist creating a masterpiece before your eyes in mere moments. Artrageous combines live painting, music, and dance in a spectacular performance that’s dazzling, unexpected, and paint-splattered. It takes you on a visual journey packed with wild inspiration, creativity, and fun!

“Artrageous was in Oskaloosa several years ago, and I still hear from audience members about how much they loved it,” said Jessica Vetter, the Operations Manager at the George Daily Auditorium. “They’ve made changes to the show, like expanding the black light section and making the band completely mobile. With the audience participation, it’s a really fun show!”

A troupe of artists, singers, musicians, and dancers pay tribute to a variety of art forms, musical genres, and pop icons like Journey, Elvis Presley, Jimi Hendrix, and John Lennon while paint jumps to life on stage.

The artists produce paintings in just minutes on stage in front of the audience. Bids for the paintings will be accepted for the week following the performance. All funds raised through the auction will go to the George Daily Youth Theatre to support scholarship funding for the after-school program.

The rest of the season includes “The Headless Hessian of Sleepy Hollow (And Other American Horror Stories)” on October 29 and a “Salute to Glen Campbell” by Jeff Dayton, Glen’s lead guitarist of 15 years, on November 14. On December 5, everyone’s favorite first grader hits the stage in “Junie B. in Jingle Bells, Batman Smells.” Missoula Children’s Theatre will showcase 60 local students on January 19 in “King Arthur’s Quest” and the season ends on March 27 with Ted Vigil’s John Denver Musical Tribute. Season tickets are on sale that include a seat to each show at a 10% discount.

Tickets for Artrageous are $25 for adults and $10 for students and available by calling (641) 672-0799, visiting www.georgedaily.org, or stopping by the George Daily Auditorium office. Artrageous is sponsored by Musco Lighting. This presentation is supported in part by the Arts Midwest Touring Fund, a program of Arts Midwest that is funded by the National Endowment for the Arts, with additional contributions from the Iowa Arts Council and the Crane Group.
