2012 Advanced Feeders Project
Southern Iowa Fair
Exhibitors with advance cattle feeder pens fed three head of cattle beginning in December, they kept monthly feed records and learned about daily care of feeder calves. The pens were weighed at the Southern Iowa Fair on Tuesday, July 17th and interviews/conferences followed where they discussed what they learned with superintendents and Byron Leu, ISU Extension Livestock Specialist.
Results are as follows:
- Sheep Champion- Skylar De Jong
- Beef Champion- Reece Strasser
- Beef Reserve Champion- Collin De Bruin
- Rate of Gain 1st Place- Carson Fisk
- Rate of Gain 2nd Place- Reece Strasser
- Feed Efficiency Winner- Tyler Strasser
- Cost of Gain Winner- Connor De Bruin
