Randau running on platform of change

Reg Randau for Mahaska County Supervisor

Independent candidate for Mahaska County Supervisor Reg Randau is running on a platform of working with and listening to the people of Mahaska County.

In order to help entice business to move here, Reg said he would start looking at infrastructure. Looking at other incentives to help bring business in such as property tax cuts. Mahaska County would be a great place to start a business, with a good workforce but believes that currently there is a lack of marketing to bring new business to the county. He currently don’t see the county as being proactive on bringing business in.

When asked if and how the communication between the county and cities could be improved, his first suggestion was to get away from saying county business or city business and see if there are way to combine and share resources. There has been talk with some of the newly elected officials about trying to raise the level of communication, but Reg currently believes that hasn’t changed much.

Reg commented that the supervisor meetings should be made more available for the people to attend. This would allow people to show up and voice their opinions. He also suggested that Supervisors should attend city council meetings to help better understand what they could do as the county to work more smoothly. With 10 communities, at least 1 of the Supervisors should be able to make it to all the meetings at least once a quarter.

Randau also commented that being available to the people of Mahaska County, and other entities in the county to see what they need, voice their questions and concerns. He noted that in the past with other projects the Supervisors had made it to meetings on the planning of a 4 lane in Marion County, but they currently are not attending the Highway 63, 4 lane expansion meetings.

When he’s spoken with people lately, he’s noticed how discourage they are with things just status quo in the Supervisors office. He believes that currently there is a lack of participation by leadership. His one constant statement has been of making himself available to everyone, he believe that communication and hard work  served him well in the past, and it will help him be a good representative of Mahaska County.
