WPU 12th at McKendree Baker Event
Fairview Heights, Ill.–The William Penn women’s bowling team competed in a format fitting postseason competition as it rolled at the McKendree Baker Challenge Saturday and Sunday.
The Statesmen finished 12th out of 25 varsity teams in qualifying with 6,297 pins over nine sets of Baker games. Wichita State (Kan.) was the top qualifier with 7,335 pins, but was upset in the finals of bracket play by #7 seed St. Ambrose 2-1.
WPU was just 151 pins from qualifying and had a high set of 765.
William Penn’s Baker team consisted of Kirstin Newberry (Sr., Holland, Mich., Secondary Education), Kelsey Johnson (Jr., Montgomery, Ill., Secondary Education), Stephanie Adams (Fr., Souris, Manitoba, Business Management), Montana Pence (Fr., Stronghurst, Ill., Elementary Education),
Niona Bruce (Fr., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Sociology & Psychology), Blair Farris (So., Washington, Iowa, Elementary Education), and Kaylee Fountain (Jr., Ottumwa, Iowa, Psychology & Sociology).
