DECATUR, ILL. — For the second weekend in a row, the Central College wrestling team topped three individual brackets at a tournament, winning at 133, 174 and 184 pounds at the Millikin Open Saturday.

Making their season debuts, Cam Timok (senior, Glen Allen, Va., Hermitage HS) was the champion at 133 and Nathan Fritz (junior, Sigourney) won at 174 pounds. Griffen McBride (sophomore, Pleasantville) also shared the title at the Pointer Open last weekend at 184.

Fritz pummeled his opponents, winning three of his matches by fall.

“Nathan had probably the most dominant effort of the day,” Van Kley said. “It’s great to have him back in the lineup.”

Timok went 3-0 with two major decisions, beating classmate Chase Petty (senior, Pella) 9-3 in the final.

“Both guys gave a really strong effort,” coach Eric Van Kley said. “They are wrestling well, we’re excited to see that competition.”

McBride is now 6-0 on the season, winning two matches by fall to win his second title of the young season.

“Griffen had a terrific day,” Van Kley said. “He did a good job setting the pace in his matches and continually attacking.”

Collin Groleau (junior, Peru, Ill., La Salle-Peru Township HS) also made his season debut and went 3-1, losing in the final at 157 pounds.

“He wrestled strong,” Van Kley said. “He did a nice job of getting to his offense.”

At 285 pounds, Christopher Murino (senior, Homer Glen, Ill., Lockport Township HS) also bagged a runner-up finish with a 4-1 record.

“Chris gave an extremely strong effort,” Van Kley said. “He wrestled very smart and aggressive.”

A 5-1 day for Rob Areyano (freshman, Selma, Calif.) concluded with a 22-4 technical fall victory in the third-place match.

“He continues to improve each week and wrestle well,” Van Kley said.

A big week for the Dutch starts on Thursday when College comes to P.H. Kuyper Gymnasium for the first home dual of the season.

“It’s going to be a great challenge,” Van Kley said. “We are wrestled excited about wrestling Coe. It’s a fan dual to start the conference season.”
