Statesmen Linksters Drop to 30th

Oskaloosa–The William Penn women’s golf team continues to play well, but is not receiving the acknowledgement from the national raters as the NAIA released its fourth top-25 rating recently.

WPU is now unofficially #30 in the nation with 44 points, dropping three rungs from the last polling. The navy and gold remain the only Heart of America Athletic Conference representatives in the ranking.

In their two spring tournaments, the Statesmen have finished first out of six teams and second out of 13 teams, with their lone ‘loss’ coming to now-#25 Bellevue.

Keiser (Fla.) continues to be #1 with 496 points and 15 first-place votes, while Dalton State (Ga.) is again second with 484 points and three first-place nods. William Carey (Miss.), Southeastern (Fla.), and Taylor (Ind.) are third, fourth, and fifth, respectively, as the top five is again unchanged.

WPU can bolster its resume with a strong showing this week as it competes Monday and Tuesday at the Susie Maxwell Berning Classic in Oklahoma City, Okla.
