Ressler Chosen as MCC’s A.O. Duer Award Winner
Oskaloosa–Evan Ressler (Jr., Cascade, Iowa, Biology) was recently honored as one of the top junior student-athletes in the nation as he was the recipient of the A.O. Duer Award for the Midwest Collegiate Conference.
Ressler is the first league winner of the NAIA’s prestigious laurel which has been presented annually since 1967 to “a male and female junior student-athlete in any sport who has excelled in scholarship, character, and citizenship.”
The junior paced the William Penn football team’s offense last fall with 728 rushing yards on 154 carries. He scored three touchdowns en route to second-team all-Midwest League accolades. Ressler is a two-time second-team pick and was his team’s Offensive Most Valuable Player in 2012.
Ressler has accomplished much off the field of competition as well, being a four-time Dean’s List member and recently a President’s list honoree this spring. He has also garnered CoSIDA Second-Team Academic All-America, Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athlete, and academic all-Mid-States Football Association laurels. An Alpha Chi National Honor Society member, he is an officer in the William Penn Fishing Club.
The national winner of the male award was Brock Taute of Nebraska Wesleyan University, while the female recipient was Kathleen Mulligan of Carroll College (Mont.).
