Oskaloosa–Linebacker Brock Peery (Jr., Payson, Utah, Secondary Education), offensive center Mason Woods (Sr., Williamsburg, Iowa, Business Management), and fullback Evan Ressler (So., Cascade, Iowa, Biology) were all named 2012 Capital One College Division Academic Football All-Americans by CoSIDA Monday morning.

Peery and Woods were both named First-Team Academic All-Americans, while Ressler earned Second-Team status. The accolade recognizes student-athletes not only for their athletic prowess but also their successes academically.

Peery, who owns a 4.00 Grade Point Average, finished second on the Statesmen squad with 87 tackles (three for loss). He also tallied one interception, two pass breakups, and two fumble recoveries (both returned for touchdowns).

Woods, who owns a 3.66 GPA, was the leader of an offensive line that helped the navy and gold pace the NAIA in rushing during the regular season with 3,530 yards.

Ressler’s 3.65 GPA was accompanied by 698 rushing yards and nine touchdowns.

Jake Snodgrass, senior quarterback from McPherson (Kan.), was named Academic All-American of the Year. Also the 2011 recipient, he is the first student-athlete to win the College Division award twice.

To be eligible for the award, athletes must be of at least sophomore academic standing, be a starter or key reserve player (other playing requirements where applicable), maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.3 or above on a 4.0 scale, and have attended the nominating institution for at least one full calendar year.
