No. 11 Warriors Take Down Pratt 79-64

Ottumwa, IA – No. 11 Indian Hills Basketball cruised to a 79-64 win over Pratt Community College (KS) on the opening night of the RV & Powersport Classic at the Hellyer Center. The Warriors move to 2-1 overall on the year.

The Warriors ran past the Beavers thanks to a 17-point advantage in the opening half of play. Indian Hills was led by three individuals in double-figures as Abdoulaye Fall (Dakar, Senegal/Cloud County), Quinton Perkins II (Dallas, TX/Tarleton State), and Tayshawn Bridges (Milwaukee, WI/Milwaukee Academy of Science) all chipped in 10 points for the Warriors.

Freshman Vladyslav Semerych (Horishni Plavni, Ukraine/Cherkassy) powered the Warriors on the glass with a season-high nine rebounds to go along with seven points. Freshman Mason Costello (Waukee, IA/Waukee) connected on three second-half three-point shots as the Warriors shot 50.0 percent from three-point range over the final 20 minutes of action.

As a team, the Warriors held the Beavers to just 31.3 percent from the floor, including 27.6 percent from three-point range. Indian Hills handled the rebounding advantage with a 45-37 edge.

Pratt jumped out to an early 10-6 run to force the Warriors to play from behind, but six consecutive points from Fall pushed the Warriors ahead 19-15 with 7:12 to play in the opening half. Indian Hills closed out the opening half on a 21-6 run to take a 40-23 lead into halftime.

Costello opened his scoring his a quick three to start the second half as the Warriors maintained a comfortable advantage through the early goings of the frame. A bucket by Trenton Walters (Frisco, TX/Radford) at the 7:03 mark gave the Warriors their largest lead of the night at 26, 73-47. Indian Hills rolled the rest of the way to move to 5-0 all-time vs. the Beavers.

The Warriors return to action Saturday night to close out the RV & Powersports Classic with a 7:00 PM matchup vs. Tyler Junior College (TX). The Apaches defeated Sauk Valley Community College 94-75 in Friday’s opener at the Hellyer Center.
