Munoz Claims Honorable Mention

William Penn Women’s Athletics

Oskaloosa–Sylvia Munoz (Fr., Paramount, Calif., Elementary Education) was a strong component for the William Penn women’s soccer team this fall, and she was recognized for her efforts as the all-Midwest Collegiate Conference teams were announced today.

Munoz was one of 14 individuals named to the honorable-mention squad, while 14 players were also chosen by the MCC’s coaches as first-teamers.

Munoz helped the Lady Statesmen to a 3-16 record (0-6 MCC). The freshman forward tallied three goals with a team-high five assists for 11 points. She had two goals against Harris Stowe-State on September 7 and assisted twice versus Iowa Wesleyan on October 10 and Culver-Stockton on October 23.

Steph Wisen of Viterbo was named MCC Player of the Year, while teammate Molly Machometa was tabbed as Newcomer of the Year. The V-Hawks, who won both the regular season and tournament titles, swept the honors as Head Coach Scott Pirnstill claimed the Coach of the Year award.
