Albia, Iowa – The NCAA Tournament is over and so is our annual Stump the Chumps Contest! Congratulations to Sgt. Robert Daniel for winning our Grand Prize of $500 in Elliott Oil Company BP Gasoline!! Robert recently returned from his second tour of duty in Afghanistan serving with the Iowa Army National Guard as a Combat Engineer. He has been stationed with the 2nd Brigade 34th Infantry Division 832nd Engineer Company near Bagram. Robert told KIIC ‘This is the first contest I’ve ever won!’. The gas will probably go in his 2 kids cars who are in college! Second place went to Randall Lien who fell just 1 point short of 1st place and wins a $50 Visa Gift Card from C1st Credit Union.
How the Chumps Did….
C1st CEO and relative newcomer to the Chumps -Phil Van Mersbergen thumped the rest of the chumps by placing 80th overall and first amongst the Chumps. TV13’s Keith Murphy had one of his better showings at 98th and Soundoff Audio Maverick B-Ross (who finished 870th) reported that Murphy’s been walking around the TV13 studio singing “Hey Sash who’s your daddy” to the tune of that nursery rhyme Hot Cross Buns.
Sash Football Winner
Tyler Sash and his GBNB organization donated a commemorative football from Superbowl 46 to the Stump the Chumps Contest prize list. Sash wants the prize to go to the person picking the lowest seeded team that advances the farthest. In the 2012 tournament, there were no real Cinderellas that did well, however our pick for this prize has to be those who picked #15 Lehigh to beat #2 Duke. There were 27 participants in our contest who picked Lehigh. We used www.random.org to generate our winner. That person is: LINDA TROXEL.
