Jarosik Hired as New Men’s Soccer Coach
Oskaloosa–William Penn University Athletics Director Greg Hafner has announced the hiring of Greg Jarosik as Head Men’s Soccer Coach.
Jarosik comes to William Penn after serving the same role at Doane College in Crete, Neb. for the past five years. During that stretch, he led the Tigers to a 43-44-4 record, including a 30-23-3 mark in Great Plains Athletic Conference play. He inherited a 2006 team that was just 5-9-3 and turned it around to post three consecutive ten-win seasons from 2008-2010.
He also skippered the women’s program at Doane the past three years and posted a 29-19-4 record (22-10-1 GPAC).
Jarosik served the role of Assistant Athletic Director from 2009-2011 as well.
“Coach Jarosik will bring a lot of successful experience to our men’s soccer program,” Hafner said. “He turned around the program at Doane College and we feel he can do the same here at William Penn. We are excited to have him on our coaching staff.”
Jarosik guided nine men’s players to first-team all-conference honors. During his tenure, the program also received votes in the NAIA national poll for the first time in its history.
On the women’s side, he led six players to first-team recognition and its 11 wins in the 2011 campaign set a new single-season school mark.
Prior to his stint at Doane, Jarosik was head coach at Papillion LaVista South (2004-2007) and Gretna High Schools (2002-2003). He began the program at Papillion LaVista South, and as an assistant at Gretna, helped the squad to a Class B state title in 2002.
Jarosik also coached at the club level from 2002-2007, heading Arsenal-Viva Soccer Club to two State Cup crowns. He worked several camps at the NCAA Division I level as well.
“I am very excited to be a member of the William Penn athletics staff and to head the men’s soccer program,” Jarosik said. “There is a strong foundation that has been built here and I look forward to seeing what the future holds for us.”
A 2001 graduate of Doane with a degree in social sciences/secondary education, Jarosik also earned his masters in curriculum and instruction from Doane earlier this spring.
Jarosik becomes the seventh skipper in the program’s history and replaces Kevin Rushing, who was head coach the past six seasons.
