Dutch football trio earns league honors

PELLA-The Central College football team swept Iowa Conference player of the week honors after a 31-6 drubbing of Albion (Mich.) on Saturday.

Running back Josh Osborn (junior, Burlington) was named offensive player of the week after a career day. Osborn finished with a career-high 208 yards of total offense and three touchdowns, including 192 rushing yards with two TDs and two pass receptions for 16 yards and a score. Defensive lineman Danny Samson (senior, Baxter, CMB HS) was named defensive player of the week, disrupting the Albion backfield to the tune of five solo tackles, including four tackles for loss and two sacks. Samson broke up one pass as well.

Punter Blaine Forsythe (junior, Pella) completed the sweep with special teams player of the week honors. Forsythe averaged 37.8 yards on six punts, pinning the Brits inside the 20 five times. He also caught three passes for 28 yards.

Central (2-1) was the only conference team in action on Saturday.

The Dutch are on the road the next two weeks as the conference schedule opens. Central is at the University of Dubuque on Saturday at 1 p.m.
