Central’s Flinn bags league men’s basketball performer of the week honors

PELLA— Notching 54 points in two games last week, Central College men’s basketball guard Adam Flinn (junior, St. Louis, Mo., Lafayette HS) was named the American Rivers Conference player of the week Monday afternoon.

He was also named the league’s male athlete of the week.

Flinn had a career-high 37-point outburst against Loras College Tuesday night. He dropped 33 points in the second half, including 27 in a nine-minute span. His performance helped Central recover from a 80-54 deficit with 11:06 left to have a chance in the game’s final moments to win before losing 96-93.

He added 17 more points in 42 minutes of action during Central’s 89-79 overtime victory against Gustavus Adolphus College (Minn.) Saturday night. Between the two games, he tallied seven rebounds, seven assists and four steals.

Central (2-4, 0-1 conference) hosts Wartburg College (3-4, 0-0 conference) at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday night at Pella’s P.H. Kuyper Gymnasium.
