Extended stay in top-10 for Dutch wrestling

Central College

PELLA — Slotted at No. 10 once again in the latest National Wrestling Coaches Association Division III poll, the veteran Central College wrestling team continues to gain respect nationally.

Three Central wrestlers are ranked individually and the Dutch are the second-highest rated Iowa Conference program behind No. 1 Wartburg College.

At 165 pounds, senior Ryan Vandall (Phoenix, Ariz., Moon Valley HS) surged up from No. 8 to the No. 3 spot in the country. He’s 14-2 on the year and has won the crown at the Super 8 Invitational and M.S.O.E. Invitational.

C.J. Pestano (junior, Torrance, Calif.) is the next-highest rated Dutch wrestler, coming in at No. 4 in the 125-pound weight class. He’s 13-3 this season, including three technical falls and two falls.

Matt Seabold (senior, Burlington) stayed at No. 10 in the updated 197-pound rankings. He’s 11-2 on the year.

Central has an entire month off before hosting the Central Under Armour Invitational on January 7 inside H.S. Kuyper Fieldhouse.
