Seddon, Johnson Snatch Inaugural T&F POW Awards

William Penn University Athletics

Oskaloosa–Derek Seddon (Sr., Knoxville, Iowa, Physical Education) and Zack Johnson (Jr., Decatur, Ill., Mechanical Engineering) got their indoor seasons off to a rousing start last Saturday and they were rewarded for big efforts by sweeping the Heart of America Athletic Conference Men’s Track and Field Athlete of Week honors Monday.

Johnson won his first career weekly Track laurel by placing third at the Central Holiday Preview in the 1,000-meter run with a personal-best time of 2:40.79.

For Seddon, now a five-time Field winner, he qualified for nationals in two events–shot put and weight throw. The senior won both competitions, taking the shot put at 51-9.75 and the weight throw at 56-8.

After the first weekend of the season for the entire NAIA, Seddon leads all shot putters and is second in the weight throw.
