Shad Andrew Wells, 41, of Eddyville died Monday, December 8, 2014 at Unity Point Health Center in Des Moines. He was born Saturday, January 27, 1973 in Tucson, Arizona, the son of Ronnie and Betty Baker Wells.

Shad graduated from Oskaloosa High School with the class of 1991. He then attended the University of Iowa.

Early on, Shad worked at Excel in Ottumwa and later at Dietriech Steel in Kansas City. He worked at Pella Corporation for over 16 years. In his time at Pella Corporation he had served in several capacities and had managed many different departments. He enjoyed his work and cared about his Pella Corp. “family” very much.

On January 27, 2010, Shad was united in marriage to Amy (Deevers) Koffman in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Shad enjoyed sports especially golf. Shad was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Bears fan. He had an extensive trivia knowledge; he was his brother Patrick’s “phone a friend” many times. He loved being with his family and friends and traveling. He will be forever remembered as a devoted husband and dad and for having a heart of gold.

Shad’s family includes his wife, Amy Wells of Eddyville; a daughter, Addyson Wells of Eddyville; a stepson, Carter Koffman of Eddyville; his parents: Betty (& Ron) Schenck of Oskaloosa; a brother: Patrick (& Darci) Schenck of Batavia, Illinois; two sisters: Patty (& Jay) Nickell of Douglas, Wyoming and Janice; his father and mother in-law: Dean and Kelly Deevers of Mystic, Iowa; two brothers-in-law: Myles Brummel of Oskaloosa and Brett Allely of Shenandoah; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Funeral services will be held Friday, December 12, 2014 at 1:30 P.M. in the Bates Funeral Chapel in Oskaloosa.
The family asks that memories and stories of Shad be sent to batesdirector@gmail.com to be used to celebrate Shad’s life.
Burial will be in the Forest Cemetery in Oskaloosa. The Bates Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Visitation will begin Thursday, December 11, 2014 after 10 A.M. in the Bates Funeral Chapel and the family will be present at the funeral chapel Thursday from 5 – 8 P.M. to greet friends and relatives.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Shad Andrew Wells Memorial Fund c/o First Iowa State Bank.
