Oskaloosa–Lauren Abbas (Jr., Adel, Iowa, Communications) and Linden Schulz (Sr., Pleasant Hill, Iowa, Psychology & Human Services) were honored for their excellence in the classroom as they were named 2014 Daktronics-NAIA Women’s Soccer Scholar-Athletes recently.

The duo was among a list of 578 women’s soccer players from within the NAIA to be awarded the laurel. Abbas led the way with a 3.85 Grade Point Average, while Schulz has a 3.57. The accolade is the first for both players.

To be eligible for the award, athletes must be of at least junior academic standing, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or above on a 4.0 scale, and have attended the nominating institution for at least one full academic year.
