Central’s Eiseler, Osborn selected for Mexico game

PELLA — Central College football quarterback Aaron Eiseler (senior, Newberg, Ore., Red Mountain HS) and running back Josh Osborn (senior, Burlington) will compete in this year’s Tazon de Estrellas (Bowl of the Stars) in Puebla, Mexico Saturday, Dec. 20.

The Tazon de Estrellas is an all-star game hosted by Global Football. The event, and its predecessor, the Aztec Bowl, have a combined 17-year history. Eiseler and Osborn will play for Team Stars and Stripes, a 50-player team of NCAA Division III seniors who have been nominated by head coaches.

Dutch defensive coordinator Don De Waard will be the head coach for Team Stars and Stripes and Central athletic training education program director John Roslien will serve as the Player Personnel Director. Dutch head athletic trainer Frank Neu will serve as the team’s head athletic trainer and Central students Drew Kleis (senior, Pella) and Trevor Curry (junior, Bloomington, Ill.) will serve as athletic training students at this year’s game.

Eiseler has completed 101 of 157 passes for 1,253 yards and 10 touchdowns and five interceptions for the Dutch (6-2 overall, 4-1 Iowa Conference) this season. He has also 23 rushing attempts for 107 yards and two touchdowns.

Osborn has racked up 857 yards and 10 touchdowns on the ground for Central this season and is fifth on Central’s career rushing yards list with 2,746 yards. He is averaging 107 rushing yards per game and more than four and a half yards per carry. The Central running back has also caught 10 passes for 82 yards.
