Statesmen Blanked at St. Ambrose
Davenport–The William Penn women’s soccer team did not give its hosts a plethora of scoring opportunities Saturday, but the ones that were given were unfortunately executed upon successfully in a 4-0 loss to St. Ambrose in Midwest Collegiate Conference play.
The Statesmen (5-9, 0-4 MCC) were outshot just 16-8, but fell behind by three goals at halftime. The Queen Bees tallied scores in the 15th, 27th, and 38th minutes.
St. Ambrose (9-2-1, 3-0 MCC), the highest-rated MCC program at #28 in the nation, added another goal in the 80th minute to seal the win.
Jaymie Padilla (Jr., Mesa, Ariz., Physical Education) paced the offense with three shots, while Kami Paulsen (Jr., Bondurant, Iowa, Communications) and Kirsty Fraser (Sr., Perth, Australia, Elementary Education) also had multiple attempts with two each.
Kayla Benoit (Fr., St. Louis, Mo., Business Management) recorded five saves on the afternoon.
Next: William Penn travels to Canton, Mo. Tuesday to face Culver-Stockton in non-conference action at 1 p.m.
