Crop walk on the Community Recreation Trail
The annual CROP walk is part of a worldwide fundraiser for hunger relief and a portion of the funds raised will go to the Mahaska County Ecumenical Cupboard. The walk this year began at the Lacey Recreation complex trail and continued to the Presbyterian church where hot dogs and warmth awaited. It rained at the end of the walk and caught a couple of late walkers from the Presbyterian youth group but they arrived with smiles on their faces! Despite the weather, 56 walkers from five different churches participated. The walkers raised $3,024.28, with more still to come in. 25% of the proceeds goes towards the Ecumenical Cupboard here in Oskaloosa, with the remainder going to benefit the global food program of Church World Service.
