Nation’s Best Rebounder Garners Another Weekly Laurel

Oskaloosa–Orielle Thomas (Sr., Waynesville, Mo., Physical Education) averaged a double-double last week to earn Midwest Collegiate Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week honors Monday.

Thomas picked up her second award of the year (third in her career) by averaging 17.7 points and 14.7 rebounds per game. She made 45.2% of her field-goal attempts (19-of-42) as the Lady Statesmen (6-4) extended their winning streak to four games (3-0 last week). Her top showing came against then-#21 St. Mary (Neb.) with 18 points and 18 rebounds in addition to five steals.

For the year, Thomas is averaging 13.8 points and an NAIA Division II-leading 13.8 rebounds (six double-doubles). She also has eight assists, one block, and 15 steals and is shooting 44.6% from the field.
